Chengjiang: the Cradle of Life and the Fairyland on Earth
在中華人民共和國的版圖上，云南宛如一塊翡翠鑲嵌在西南邊陲。
In the territory of the People's Republic of China, Yunnan, is studded like a jade in the southwest border.
這塊翡翠的中部，是素有地球生命起源地、聶耳故鄉(xiāng)、云煙之鄉(xiāng)、花燈之鄉(xiāng)和高原水鄉(xiāng)美譽的玉溪市。
Located in the center of Yunnan, Yuxi is known as the Place of Life Origin, Nie’er Hometown, Hometown of Yunnan Tobacco, Hometown of Huadeng Opera and Water Hometown on Plateau.
而玉溪的這五項美譽中，有兩項和同一個縣息息相關(guān)，這就是鐘靈毓秀、大美天成的生命搖籃·山水澄江。
Among these five titles of Yuxi, two of them are closely related to Chengjiang, which is the cradle of life, and a land of natural landscape.
澄江的古名寓意深刻一個字就囊括了“山、水、人、文”，寄托著先民們對這片熱土的摯愛。
The ancient name of Chengjiang contains "mountains, water, people and literature", which embodies the passion of the ancestors to the land.
澄江因水而秀
Chengjiang is beautiful for its water.
The lake in Chengjiang is deep and rivers around it are winding.Chengjiang sits in the north of Fuxian Lake, south of Yangzonghai Lake and Nanpanjiang River flows through it.Fuxian Lake is the most famous one.
早在明代，著名的狀元詩人楊升庵就為撫仙湖留下了“天然圖畫勝西湖”的佳句。
As early as in the Ming Dynasty, Yang Sheng’an, a famous poet said Fuxian Lake was more beautiful than the West Lake.
撫仙湖是目前地球上同一緯度唯一保持Ⅰ類水質(zhì)的湖泊，也是中國內(nèi)陸湖中最深、水質(zhì)最好、蓄水量最大的深水型貧營養(yǎng)湖泊。蓄水量占國控重點湖泊I類水質(zhì)的91.4%，相當(dāng)于為全國人民每人儲備了15.8噸優(yōu)質(zhì)淡水。
Fuxian Lake is the only lake that maintains Class I water quality at the same latitude on the earth.It is also the deepest lake among China's inland lakes with the best water quality. It is an oligotrophic lake which has the largest water storage capacity that accounts for 91.4% in lakes with Class I water quality and the lake is managed by the state,equivalent to 15.8 tons of high-quality fresh water for each person of China.
撫仙湖水質(zhì)至今總體穩(wěn)定保持Ⅰ類，是中國首批8個生態(tài)環(huán)境保護(hù)試點湖泊，并入選國家重點支持生態(tài)良好湖泊名錄?！笆濉蹦谥袊?1個水質(zhì)良好湖泊保護(hù)績效考評中名列第一。
The water quality of Fuxian Lake has remained stable in Class I. It was listed in the first batch of 8 ecological environmental protection pilot program in China. Because of its good ecology, it was elected into the list of national supported lake. At the end of the "12th Five-Year Plan", it ranked the first place in the protection evaluation of 81 water quality lakes in China.

不但水質(zhì)一流，撫仙湖畔，車水捕魚、兩水相交魚不往、鯖魚陣、銅鍋煮魚組成了神秘的風(fēng)物奇觀，吸引著世界各地的游客紛至沓來。也正是因為這樣，撫仙湖被譽為“玉溪的眼睛、云南的名片、全國的財富”。
Not only the water quality is the first class, but the fishing scene of Fuxian Lake is attractive. Stories about fishes in the lake and miracle fish formation are mysterious, and the local cuisine-- delicious fish cooked and served in the copper pot is very popular among tourists.That’s why Fuxian Lake is praised as “the Eye of Yuxi”, “the Business Card of Yunnan” and “Wealth of the Chinese Nation”.

在帽天山，科學(xué)家發(fā)現(xiàn)了距今5.3億年前的寒武紀(jì)動物化石群。
In Maotianshan Mountain, scientists discovered the Cambrian fauna fossils which can be traced back to 530 million years ago.
這是迄今為止地球上發(fā)現(xiàn)的分布最集中、保存最完整、種類最豐富的“寒武紀(jì)生命大爆發(fā)”例證，被國際科學(xué)界譽為古生物圣地、古生物化石模式標(biāo)本產(chǎn)地、世界級的化石寶庫和二十世紀(jì)最驚人的發(fā)現(xiàn)之一。2012年7月1日，澄江化石地成功被列入世界自然遺產(chǎn)名錄。
This is the most concentrated, most well-preserved and most abundant in species "Cambrian life explosion" identified on the earth. The international scientific community accredits it as a paleontological holy site, paleontological fossil specimen, and a world-class fossil treasure house. It is also regarded as one of the most amazing discoveries of the twentieth century.On July 1, 2012, Chengjiang Fossil Site successfully went into the World Natural Heritage List.
在這里發(fā)現(xiàn)的目前最古老的脊索動物——云南蟲，被認(rèn)為是所有脊椎動物的祖先，澄江由此成為人們追溯生命起源的神奇之地。在撫仙湖西側(cè)的天頭山，科學(xué)家們還發(fā)現(xiàn)了“云南龍”恐龍化石，這是科學(xué)界尋找多年未果的距今1.8億年前的侏羅紀(jì)早期中生代的食草恐龍。
The Yunnanozoon, the oldest chordate, is considered to be the ancestor of all vertebrates, therefore, Chengjiang has become a magical place for people to trace the origin of life.In the Tiantoushan Mountain on the west side of Fuxian Lake, the scientists also discovered the “Yunnanosaurus” , a dinosaur fossil.This is the early-stage Jurassic herbivorous dinosaur dating back to 180 million years ago.

而“滇中第一高峰”梁王山、獨坐撫仙湖中的孤山、筆架山等等，也姿態(tài)萬千，各有特色。
Liangwangshan Mountain, the "First Peak of Central Yunnan", the Gushan Isle in the Fuxian Lake, the Bijiashan Mountain, etc., also have different characteristics.

It is the birthplace of the ancient Yunnan. The various cultural relics unearthed in the territory clearly reflect the development and evolution of the ancient Yunnan.

被稱為中國戲劇活化石的國家級非物質(zhì)文化遺產(chǎn)關(guān)索戲，至今還在演繹著三國英雄叱咤風(fēng)云的鐵血往事；獨具一格的松元彝族太平花燈，在陰陽轉(zhuǎn)合間，表達(dá)著人們對生命的敬畏對平安幸福的向往。
Guansuo Opera, known as the Living Fossil of Chinese Opera in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage,tells the stories of heroes in the Three Kingdoms. Taipinghuadeng Dance of Yi people in Songyuan Village,is performed to deliver the respect and longing for peace and happiness.

自公元前106年設(shè)俞元縣起，歷史上的澄江曾為路、府、郡、縣治地。
Since the establishment of Yuyuan County in 106 BC, Chengjiang in history was administrated in different levels, namely Lu, Fu, Jun and County.

In history, Chengjiang has cultivated many talents with various academic titles, such as Jinshi, Hanlin.Intense cultural atmosphere is publicly acknowledged. Li Hui, a famous general in the Period of Three Kingdoms;Zhao Shilin, Governor of Zhejiang Province during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty;Luo Peijin, hero of nation guarding in the reign of Chiang Kai-shek were all born in Chengjiang.

During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Invasion, Sun Yat-sen University moved west to Chengjiang, which brought the most advanced modern civilization to Chengjiang,and also wrote an exciting history in Chinese education.

The Chengjiang festival culture is splendid.Over the past years, Chengjiang has witnessed traditional festivals such as the Summer Start Festival and Incense Burning Festival. The Super Marathon, the Granfondo Cycling Race and the International Yoga Culture Festival attract increasing attention from home and abroad.

2019年6月10日，第二屆中國-南亞合作論壇在撫仙湖畔舉行。
近年來，在習(xí)近平新時代中國特色社會主義思想指引下，在中央和省、市的關(guān)心支持下，澄江縣牢固樹立“綠水青山就是金山銀山”理念，深入實施“生態(tài)立縣、旅游強縣、開放活縣”三大戰(zhàn)略，經(jīng)濟(jì)社會持續(xù)穩(wěn)定健康發(fā)展。
In recent years, under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thoughts on Socialism Chinese Characteristics for a New Era , and with the support of the central, provincial, and municipal government, Chengjiang County firmly establishes the concept of “Clear waters and green mountains are as good as mountains of gold and silver”,and implements three major strategies, namely “setting up the county with an ecological way, strengthening the county with tourism, boosting the county with more opening methods”.As a result, economy and society of Chengjiang have been continuously and steadily developing.

In 2018, the county's GDP exceeded 10 billion RMB yuan (about 1.4 billion USD),and its economy is one of the top 10 counties in Yunnan Province. It has won the titles of State-Level Tourist Resorts and National Sanitation Counties.

Under brilliant administration, more and more achievements have been made.Today's Chengjiang is following the general guideline of “Protection First, Governance as Priority, Scientific Planning, Green Development”, and focusing on the target of “building a harmonious society between man and nature”.Chengjiang government spares no efforts in Three Battles of protection and governance of Fuxian Lake, transformation and upgrading in industries and urban and rural integration. Chengjiang is marching to the final goal planned by the CPC of Yunnan Provincial Committee and Yunnan Provincial People’s Government, that is, the International Tourism City, International Life Keeping City and International Conference Host City.
